Now this was my dream bike from my Honda XLR Riding days - all the reviews said "HOOLIGAN" and "FUN" and boy were they RIGHT!

As this was my first KTM - I was pleasantly surprised to validate their "Ready to Race" tag line; unlike the Honda where folding shifters, upgraded suspension, hydraulic clutches, and steel-braided cables are after-market options - The Duke2 HAD it ALL as FACTORY STANDARD! The only thing that I really had to do was re-jet the 145Main Jet of the Mikuni BST-40 to 165 (and lose the airbox cover); Its jetted lean from the factory to pass the EURO-4 Emission tests. Other than that; nothing else is necessary (unless you dont like its sound then you can do the pipe mods)

On performance: OH WHAT TORQUE! Power is available WHEN YOU WANT IT! this bike can accelerate with the best 600cc sport bikes with double the horsepower! Of course it tapers off at around 170kph then those 200kph++ monsters blow right by. But for normal urban driving conditions; you just cant beat the Duke2 on versatility = its Enduro style frame and riding position combined with 12" ground clearance makes it take on the worst bumps and the road can bring without slowing down, and make parking on sidewalks a breeze!

Manueverability is also very easy with its 160x60 17" wheels and 350lbs dry weight. you can just dip this bike left or right without much effort. Its also very forgiving on a miscalculated corner since releasing the throttle generated a great amount of engine break. Mileage is also superb at 20km/li - not too bad for a 600cc Hooligan!

As I am generally a touring rider theres a lot to be asked for in the Duke2- Major one is the lack of SPACE for anything but microfiber cloth and minimal tools under that seat - The Oxford Soft Saddles work and fit well but the exposed Exhaust Cans can melt it up together with its contents when not insulated. Had it had at least some bolts to fit a decent GIVI box or paniners then I would have given the Duke2 a 5 star rating. Vibration and the narrow seat is also an issue to non-dirt riders (i dont really mind it).

Overall however, this bike remains at the TOP of my favorite pile! With great Torque; Its Quick, Agile, and can ride on most surfaces leading to the country's best destinations!
